FLORENCE, NEW JERSEY - Authorities have opened a criminal investigation and executed a search warrant at the domicile of Kate McClure, 28, and Mark D'Amico, 39, New Jersey residents, who opened a GoFundMe page, and raised $402,706 online for Bobbitt, a homeless veteran Philadelphia, who now claims they spent of all of the money on themselves. McClure met Bobbitt in November when her automobile ran out of gas on an exit ramp. Bobbitt used his last $20 to walk to a gas station to purchase her gasoline. Officials offered little information about their investigation.
"Due to the enormous public interest in this matter, I am confirming that a search warrant was executed early this morning by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Florence Township Police Department at the residence of Mark D'Amico and Katelyn McClure in connection with a criminal investigation into the Johnny Bobbitt matter. As of this time, there have been no charges filed. Further updates will be provided as circumstances warrant," said Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.
