PHOENIX, ARIZONA - Local authorities in the "Grand Canyon State" have arrested Nathan Sutherland, 36, a registered nurse, for the sexual assault of an incapacitated woman at Hacienda Healthcare, a long term care facility. Sutherland had been assigned to care for the incapacitated woman, 29, who gave birth. Investigators searched for DNA samples from all of the male employees of Hacienda Healthcare. On January 22, investigators matched the baby’s DNA to Sutherland’s. He was booked into Maricopa County Jail shortly after.
Thelda Williams, 77, interim mayor of and current councilwoman in the city of Phoenix, Arizona, said, "We are proud of our police department. They have spent endless hours investigating this heinous crime and I am very please to announce that an arrest has been made. This is a facility that you should be safe in and someone wasn't."
"I stand here today to announce to the community that the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the members of this police department has resulted in the arrest of the person, whom we believe committed this unspeakable act when he sexually assaulted on our most vulnerable members of our community," said Police Chief Jeri Williams of the Phoenix Police Department.
