HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA - America's most trusted source for sexual wellness products, adameve.com, was founded in March of 1971, and has served more than 12 million satisfied customers worldwide. Adam & Eve is America's largest marketer of sexual wellness products, and makes it one of the oldest businesses in the sex industry. The firm interviewed over 1,000 adults ages 18, and over as part of their annual survey about who should teach teenagers about sex.
The greater number of the participants, namely 76%, believe that sex education should be taught by parents, legal guardians and every educational institution throughout the United States. The web-based survey was coordinated by a third party, and sponsored by AdamEve.com to get a better understanding of sexual practices. "The saying 'it takes a village' applies to sex education as well," says Dr. Kat Van Kirk, resident sexologist for Adam & Eve. "It's imperative that teenagers receive information from different sources and understand that each source has its own agenda… whether that is religious, cultural or social. But teens are much more astute than many people realize, and they can pull the data they need from what is provided."
Dr. Kat earned a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Family Resources and Human Development and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a post-graduate degree in Marriage, Family and Addictions Therapy from Ottawa University. Dr. Kat possesses a master’s degree, and a doctorate in Human Sexuality & Clinical Sexology from the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. She is the resident sexologist at Adam and Eve. She is the author of "The Married Sex Solution: A Realistic Guide to Saving Your Sex Life." Her book can be purchased from Amazon.com, and her podcast, "Sex Chat with Dr. Kat," can be found on iTunes.
