PASADENA, CALIFORNIA - Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and the demand for referees is multiplying. Two names are helping the demand meet the supply; C.O.M.M.A.N.D, and HERB DEAN MMA. Both companies are MMA referee, and Judging training educational institutions, highly recommended by the California State Athletics Commission for anyone pursuing their dreams of becoming an MMA referee or judge. The difference between the two are the owners. C.O.M.M.A.N.D is operated by one of MMA's founding fathers, the legendary John McCarthy, best known for being a former Los Angeles police officer, and officiating numerous bouts dating back to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 2. HERB DEAN MMA is operated by former MMA fighter, Herb Dean, now MMA ref, and educational instructor in Pasadena, California.
Dana White, UFC president, said, "Not only is he the best referee, he is the best referee ever," on MMA news.
"I started kickboxing early on in my youth, and eventually fought as a professional mixed martial artist. I received complete MMA training from Larry Landless at Submission Factory in Los Angeles, California, and helped Zane Frazier prepare for UFC 1. I retired from the sport with five wins and 3 losses. I started referring at Soboba Casino, an Indian reservation, and worked my way up the ladder, officiating over 5,700 professional MMA matches around the world. I reffed notable names like Nate Diaz, Georges St-Pierre, Jeremy Jackson, and Anderson Silva. I've traveled all over the world. I encourage anyone interested in becoming an MMA ref or judge to contact us at www.HerbDean.com. We are an ABC-recognized athletic commission course."
